Ministerial Decision No. 666/2015 On the Rules of Professional Conduct and Ethics of the Legal Profession in UAE

The Minister of Justice,

After perusal of Federal Law No. 1/1972 on Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers and its amendments;

Federal Law No. 23/1991 on the Regulation of the Legal Profession; and

Ministerial Decision No. 591/1997 on the Implementing Regulations of Federal Law No. (23) of 1991 on the Regulation of the Legal Profession,

Has issued the following Decision:

Article 1 - Definitions

State: United Arab Emirates

Ministry: The Ministry of Justice

Lawyer/Legal Consultant: Individual Lawyer or foreign Legal Consultant, or a Law Firm partner.

Client/Principal: The person represented by the Lawyer before courts, departments or arbitration tribunals, or the person requesting the legal advice.

Department: Advocates' Affairs Department at the Ministry of Justice.

Article 2 - Basic Provisions and Scope of Application

a- The function of the Lawyer in the community in general:
