Ministerial Decision No. 535/2008 Concerning the Regulations of Inspection and Registration of Vehicles

The Minister of Interior

- After perusal of Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers and its amendments; and

- Federal Law No. 21/1995 on Traffic and its amendments; and

- Federal Law No. 24/1999 For the Protection and Development of the Environment, and its amendments; and

- Implementing Regulation of Federal Law No. 21/1995 on Traffic, issued by Ministerial Decision No. 130 of 1997 and its amending decisions; and

Based on the public interest requirements;

Has decided:

Article 1

Without prejudice to Article 25 of Federal Law No. 21/1995 aforementioned, a vehicle shall pass the technical inspection and be valid for registration or renewal only if the following requirements are fulfilled:

1- The permissible level of vehicle exhaust gases (carbon dioxide) must not exceed 3.5% starting from the first of January 2009; this rate shall be 2.5% as from the first of January 2010.
