Abrogating:

Federal Law No. 17/2009 dated 31/12/2009*[1]

We, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates,

After perusal of the Constitution;

Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers, and its amendments;

Federal Law No. 17/2009 on the Protection of New Plant Varieties; and

Based on what was presented by the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, approved by the Council of Ministers and the Federal National Council, and ratified the Federal Supreme Council,

Have issued the following Law:

Article 1 - Definitions

In application of the provisions of this Law, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned thereto, unless the context requires otherwise:

State: The United Arab Emirates.

Ministry: Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

Minister: Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
