FEDERAL LAW NO. 18/1978 ON CRIMES AGAINST THE ISLAMIC RELIGION
We Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates
Persuant to the perusal of the provisional*[1] constitution and,
The Federal Law No.1/1972 concerning the Jurisdiction of the Ministries and the Powers of Ministers and its amending laws;
Acting upon the proposal of the Minister of Justice, Islamic affairs and Endowments, the approval of the cabinet and the Federal National Council and the ratification of the Federal Supreme Council,
Have promulgated the following Law:
Article 1
Whoever has established, founded, contributed in or managed a society, body or organization or branch of any of these with a view to challenge or transgress the bases or precepts of the Islamic religion or of what was necessarily known of it or preaching other than this religion or advocates for a doctrine or idea containing any of the aforementioned or to encourage or promote these, will be punished by imprisonment for a period not less than five years and not more than ten years.
