Agreement on Extradition between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran
The United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran, hereinafter referred to as "The Parties".
Desirous of consolidating judicial cooperation in the field of extradition, on the basis of mutual interests and respect for sovereignty of both states.
Have agreed as follows
Article 1 - Obligation to extradite
The Parties undertake to extradite to each other, upon request and subject to the provisions of this Agreement, persons who are found within the territories of the Parties for institution of proceedings against them or for carrying out of a sentence.
Article 2 - Extraditable offences
Extradition shall be granted if the act for which extradition is requested constitutes an offence under the laws of both Parties.
Extradition for conducting criminal proceeding against the person shall be granted in respect of offences punishable under the laws of both the Parties by imprisonment for a period of at least one year or by a more severe penalty.
