Federal Decree No. 33/1996 Agreement on Cooperation Against Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Chemical Precursors Between the State of the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,

Aware of the seriousness of the crimes relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and their subsequent dangers to the health of human beings and their welfare as well as to the economic, Cultural and moral foundations of society,

Noting the international efforts aimed at eliminating crimes relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances which resulted in the conclusion of “Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961”.

“Convention on Psychotropic Substances 1971” and the UN Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances 1988.

Desirous of intensifying their efforts with a view to preventing the danger of Illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic Substances and their abuse have agreed to the following:

Article 1

The term “illicit traffic” means the offences set forth in article 3, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the UN Convention of 1988.
