Federal Decree No. 32/2012 On the Ratification of the Protocol to Amend Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage

We, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates State,

Pursuant to the perusal of the Constitution; and

Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the jurisdictions of the ministries and the competences of the ministers and the amendments thereof; and

Acting upon the proposal made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the approval of the Cabinet and the ratification of the Federal Supreme Council,

Have issued the following Decree:

Article 1

The Protocol to Amend Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage 1997, the texts thereof are annexed hereto, was ratified with preservation of the text of paragraph 2 of Article 20 (a) of the Protocol pertaining to referring the settlement of the dispute for arbitration or to the International Court of Justice so the State shall not be bound thereby.

Article 2

The Minister of Foreign Affairs shall implement the Decree herein and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
