Federal Law No. 4/2012 dated 10/10/2012
We, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates,
Pursuant to the perusal of the Constitution;
Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and Powers of Ministers, and its amendments;
Federal Law No. 4/2012 on the Regulation of Competition; and
Based on the proposal of the Minister of Economy, and the approval by the Cabinet,
Have issued the following Decree-Law:
Article 1 - Definitions
For the purposes of this Decree-Law, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned to each, unless the context requires otherwise:
State: The United Arab Emirates.
Ministry: The Ministry of Economy.
Minister: The Minister of Economy.
Concerned Authority: The Competent local authority
Sectoral Regulatory Bodies: The federal or local body entitled under its regulation to regulate, control, or supervise a specific economic sector within the State.
Competition: Practicing economic activities according to market mechanisms without any influence or restriction on such mechanisms in a manner that may adversely affect the trade, development and the consumer's interest.
