In applying the provisions of this Decision, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings indicated opposite each of them, unless the context of the provision requires otherwise:

• State: The United Arab Emirates.

• Ministry: The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

• Competent Authority: The federal or local government entity within the State that has the authority to implement any of the provisions of this Decision.

• Accreditation: A third party’s official ratification of the competency of a conformity assessment body to carry out a specific conformity assessment activity.

• Laboratory: The body that performs air quality measurements for the tests specified in this Decision.

• Weather Monitoring: Observing, assessing or measuring one or more meteorological element(s) of weather conditions in a specific area and time that describe(s) the atmospheric condition, whether at ground level or higher, using specialized instruments and devices to monitor the atmosphere and adopting approved monitoring criteria.
