Cabinet Decision No. 39/2006 On the Prohibition of Import, Production and Use of Asbestos Sheets

The Cabinet,

Having perused the Constitution,

Federal Law No. 1/1972 on Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers, and its amending laws;

Federal Law No. 7/1993 on the establishment of the Federal Environment Agency and its amendments;

Federal Law No. 24/1999 for the protection and development of the environment, and the environmental regulations issued pursuant thereto;

Federal Decree-Law No. 1/2006 amending some provisions of the Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and Powers of Ministers;

Ministerial Council for Services Decision No.171/7/2006 on the Prohibition of Import, Production and Use of Asbestos Sheets, Control of the Production of Asbestos Pipes and Ensuring their Conformity with International Standards;

Based on the suggestion of the Minister of Environment and Water and the approval of the Cabinet for delegation,

Decided:

Article 1

It shall be prohibited to:

1- Import asbestos material manufactured in the form of sheets.

2- Produce asbestos sheets by all the establishments operating in the State.

3- Use asbestos sheets in public and private buildings.
