Cabinet Decision No. 18/2014 On the UAE Regulation on the Control of Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
The Cabinet,
After perusal of the Constitution;
Federal Law No. 1/1972 on the Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers and its amendments;
Federal Law No. 28/2001 on the Establishment of Emirates Standardisation and Metrology Authority (ESMA), and its amendments;
Federal Law No. 24/2006 on Consumer Protection, and its amendments;
Cabinet Decision No. 31/2006 on the National Metrology System, and
Based on the approval of the Cabinet;
Has issued the following Decision:
Article 1 - Definitions
In application of the provisions of this Law, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned against each, unless the context stipulates otherwise:
State: the United Arab Emirates
Authority: the Emirates Standardisation and Metrology Authority (ESMA)
Board: the Board of Directors of the Authority
Director-General: the Director-General of the Authority
Competent Authority: the competent federal or local authority in the State, authorized to implement the provisions of this Regulation
