Abrogating

We, Qaboos Bin Said, Sultan of Oman

After perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 101/1996,

The Omani Penal Code promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 7/1974,

After referring to the Council of Oman,

And based on the public interest requirement,

Have decreed the following:

Article 1

The provisions of the enclosed Penal Code shall be put into effect.

Article 2

The Omani Penal Code promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 7/1974*[1]shall be abrogated. In addition, any provision that is contrary to this Law or contradicting with its provisions, shall also be abrogated.

Article 3

This Decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall come into effect as from the next day following the date of its publication.
