Oman Sultani Decree No. 71/2023 On the Issuance of the Law of Expropriation for Public Benefit

We, Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman

After perusal of the Basic Statute of the State,

The Law on Expropriation for Public Benefit promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 78/1964;

And based on the public interest requirements,

Have decreed the following:

Article 1

The attached Law shall apply to the expropriation for public benefit.

Article 2

The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning shall issue the Implementing Regulation of the attached Law after obtaining the Cabinet approval and shall as well issue all the decisions necessary to implement the provisions thereof, and until their issuance, the existing regulations and decisions shall continue to be in effect, as long as they do not contradict its provisions.

Article 3

The aforementioned Law on Expropriation for Public Benefit shall be abrogated along with any provision that contradicts or conflicts with the provisions of the attached Law.

Article 4

This Decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and shall come into force on the day following the date of its publication.
