Oman Sultani Decree No. 6/2022 Promulgating the Personal Data Protection Law

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman;

Having reviewed:

The Basic Statute of the State;

The Electronic Transactions Law promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 69/2008;

Oman Sultani Decree No. 64/2020 Establishing the Cyber Defense Center and Promulgating its Regulations;

After submission to the Council of Oman; and

As dictated by the public interest;

Have decreed as follows:

Article 1

The attached Personal Data Protection Law shall come into force.

Article 2

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology shall issue the Executive Regulations of the attached Law, and shall also issue the necessary decisions for implementing its provisions, and until they are issued, the existing regulations and decisions shall remain effective, to the extent that they do not conflict with therewith.

Article 3

Chapter VII of the aforementioned Electronic Transactions Law, as well as every provision contradicting with the attached Law or in conflict with its provisions, shall be repealed.
