Oman Sultani Decree No. 47/1997 On the Promulgation of the Law of Arbitration in Civil and Commercial Disputes

We, Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman

Pursuant to the perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by the Oman Sultani Decree 101/1996,

Oman Sultani Decree No. 79/1981 on the establishment of the Commercial Court and its amendments,

Oman Sultani Decree No. 32/1984 issuing the Regulation of examining the lawsuits and arbitration applications before the Commercial Court, promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 32/1984 and its amendments,

Oman Sultani Decree No. 55/1990 issuing the Commercial Law and its amendments, and based on the public interest requirements,

Have decreed as follows:

Article 1

The provisions of the attached Law of Arbitration in Civil and Commercial disputes shall be applied.

Article 2

The Minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs shall issue the necessary decisions for the implementation of the provisions of this Law.

Article 3

Any provisions to the contrary of the provisions of this Law shall be abrogated.
