Oman Ministerial Decision No. 217/2016 Regulating the Employment of Juveniles and the Works and Professions in Which They May Work

Based on the Labour Law, promulgated by the Oman Sultani Decree No. 35/2003,

The Oman Sultani Decree No. 76/2004 on the Determination of the Competencies of the Ministry of Manpower, and Approval of its Organisational Structure,

And based on the public interest requirements,

It was decided to:

Article 1

The employer shall not employ juveniles before obtaining the written consent of the person liable for the care, upbringing and the growth thereof, such as the guardian or the entities entrusted with the provision of alternative care.

Article 2

Without prejudice to the provisions of employment of juveniles set forth in the above-mentioned Labour Law, the employer shall:

1- Notify the Inspection Department at the Directorate General of Labour Welfare or the Labour Welfare Department at the Directorates General of Manpower in the governorates, of the names and ages of the juveniles before their employment and the persons employed to monitor their work.
