Oman Ministerial Decision No. 122/2014 Temporary Restricting the Issuance of Work Permits for Non-Omani Workforce in Certain Sectors

According to the Labor Law promulgated by Oman Sultani Decree No. 35/2003,

Based on the public interest requirements,

Article 1

The permits to bring non-Omani workforces shall be suspended for a period of six months in the private sector establishments within the following businesses:

  • Carpentry workshops

  • Aluminum workshops

  • Blacksmithing workshops

  • Brick plants

These permits shall keep on covering the leave entitlements for the professions falling within the aforementioned businesses.

Article 2

The decision is not applicable to the establishments registered under the excellent grade category, international and consulting grade companies, the establishments which carry out governmental projects, the establishments owned by a full timer employer registered in the General Authority for the development of small and medium enterprises (PASME), and the insured parties in the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI).

Article 3

This Decision shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall come into force as of 1 July 2014
