Lebanon Law of 1946 Lebanese Citizenship

The following Law, was passed by the Parliament and promulgated by the President of the Republic, worded as follows:

Article 1

A paragraph was added by virtue of Article 1 of Lebanon Decree No. 10828/1962 dated 9/10/1962:

Lebanese citizenship shall be lost by:

  1. A Lebanese citizen who acquires a foreign citizenship after obtaining authorisation by a decree issued by the Head of State.

  2. A Lebanese citizen who, while in Lebanon, accepts a position conferred by a foreign government or by an entity affiliated with a foreign government, without first obtaining prior authorisation from the Lebanese government. If the government does not respond to the request for authorisation within two months from the date of its submission, the absence of a response shall be deemed a rejection.

  3. A Lebanese citizen residing outside Lebanese territory who accepts a public position conferred by a foreign government in a foreign country and retains such position despite receiving an order to relinquish it within a specified deadline.
