Lebanon Decree-Law No. 36/1967 On the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture

Abrogating

The Ottoman Law dated 31/03/1326H.

The President of the Lebanese Republic,

Based on the Lebanese Constitution;

Lebanon Law No. 45/1967, dated 05/06/1967, granting the government the right to legislate by decrees adopted by the Council of Ministers concerning economic and financial matters; and

After consulting the State Shura Council,

Decrees the following:

Title 1 - The Lebanese Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Article 1 - Definition of Chambers

The text of Article 1 was abrogated by virtue of Article 2 of Lebanon Law No. 626/1997 dated 23/04/1997 and replaced with the following text:

The Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture are institutions of public interest that, within their competence, address commercial, industrial and agricultural interests. They shall have the right to own, sell, purchase, insure, accept donations and endowments, contract loans, litigate, and perform other similar activities.

Article 2

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry shall be subject to the control of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, as specified in this Legislative Decree.
