Saudi Arabia: New Electronic Portal for Sponsors Recruiting Locally Experienced Talent

Analysis

Employers in the Nitaqaat green zone or above can now use a new electronic database called “Kawadir Labour Portal” to recruit locally-experienced foreign nationals whose work or residence permits have expired or have not been renewed by their sponsors.

The database was launched by the Labour and Social Development Ministry to limit overseas recruitment.

What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals whose work or residence permits have expired or have not been renewed by their sponsors, those who were not issued a residence ID card after three months of entry into Saudi Arabia, or those who work for companies that no longer require their services, can authorise their current sponsors to place their resume on a new employment database for an opportunity to be recruited.

Eligible employers looking to hire locally-experienced professionals can now do so by accessing the newly launched database of job seekers. This will also reduce overall cost of employment which is expected to be lower if compared to recruitment from overseas.
