Iraq: Government Fees for Immigration Applications and Overstay Fines Increased

Government fees for foreign nationals seeking employment and residence in Kurdistan in Iraq have significantly increased. Overstay fines have also increased.

Examples of new processing fees are below:

• A new residence permit for visa nationals to the Kurdistan Region costs 1,200,000 Dinars (USD 1000);

• A new residence permit for visa-exempt nationals to the Kurdistan Region costs 600,000 Dinars (USD 500);

• A residence permit renewal costs 125,000 Dinars (USD 103); and

• An exit card costs 20,000 Dinars (USD 18).

New overstay fines are below:

• Foreign nationals who overstay one week are subject to a 200,000 Dinars (USD 168) fine;

• Foreign nationals who overstay two weeks are subject to a 300,000 Dinars (USD 250) fine;

• Foreign nationals who overstay four weeks are subject to a 600,000 Dinars (USD 500) fine.

Fine amounts increase as the overstay period increases.
