From 1 June 2016 the suspension applies to the following workers:

• Workers in construction and cleaning services;

• Camel herders;

• Sales representatives; and

• Procurement representatives.

From 1 July 2016 the suspension will apply to the following workers:

• Carpenters;

• Workers in aluminum workshops;

• Workers in metal workshops; and

• Workers in concrete blocks factories.

The suspension will not apply to excellent, international and consultancy grade companies as per the Commerce and Industry Ministry categorisation, and to those working on government projects.

The above workers will still be able to renew their existing visas.

What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals

Companies seeking to employ foreign nationals in certain job titles will not be able to do so until the ban has been lifted.
