The recent crash of a Russian passenger plane in Sinai, Egypt, has brought into sharp focus the role of aviation regulatory bodies, investigatory bodies, insurers and aviation disaster management professionals.

The Disaster
On 31 October 2015, 224 passengers died where a Metrojet plane operated by Kogalmavia, and flying from Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt to St. Petersburg in Russia, came down over the Sinai peninsula without broadcasting a mayday warning.
