Analysis
The UAE's Finance Ministry has confirmed income tax will not be imposed in the country and there are no studies or proposals recommending this.
However, the Ministry confirmed VAT is set to be introduced at 5% and will be imposed on all sectors in the country except for the health and education sectors and a specific list of exempted commodities.
A draft framework agreement is under consideration and will be signed with the other Gulf Cooperation Council countries in June 2016.
The actual tax will be introduced between January 2018 and January 2019.
