Analysis
The Labour Ministry has announced that Syrian nationals between 18 and 60 under Saudi visitor visas are eligible for temporary work permits.
Male and female Syrian nationals can obtain a temporary work permit through the Ajeer online portal for a renewable period of six months. Work is only allowed in certain trades and a sponsorship transfer is not required.
Syrian nationals are currently restricted from obtaining new work authorizations for Saudi Arabia through traditional channels, partially due to ongoing challenges arising from the closure of the Saudi Embassy in Damascus.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
Syrian nationals on Saudi visitor visas should now benefit from renewable temporary work permits valid for up to six months.
