According to local news reports, Oman's Health Ministry is considering taxing unhealthy products like fast food, soft drinks and cigarettes in the Sultanate.
The Health Minister, Dr Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi has reportedly said tougher sanctions must be imposed on unhealthy items.
It follows reports of a dramatic rise in lung cancer victims in the Sultanate and a decision by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection to ban electronic cigarettes and electronic shisha.
