Significant increase in official fees for trademarks, patents and designs in Kuwait

The Kuwait Patent Office and Trademark Office have announced that there will be a significant increase in official fees. This fee increase is likely to come into effect from 21 December 2015.

The new fees will apply to all new filings as well as to applications which have already been filed with regard to fees which have not yet been paid.

At present, it appears that the official fees for trademark applications will increase as follows:

• Filing fee-to increase from US 25 to USD 264

• Publication and registration fees-to increase from USD 95 to USD 1,586
