Analysis
The duration of stays on visas-on-arrival at Kuwait International Airport has been reduced from 90 to 30 days. The visa is not extendable and foreign nationals who do not exit Kuwait before their visa's expiration are subject to fines.
Additionally, validity (i.e. the period, from the visa's issued date, within which foreign nationals must enter) of the single-entry commercial visit visa has been reduced to 30 days.
As the changes have not been officially announced or published, it is unclear whether these are long term changes or short term changes as part of measures being taken to enhance national security.
What This Means for Foreign Nationals
Employers applying for commercial visit visas for their employees should ensure the employees enter Kuwait within 30 days of the permit being issued.
Short-term visitors should be sure to exit Kuwait before the expiration of their visa-on-arrival in order to avoid fines or other penalties.
