UAE: Cooling-Off Period Removed for Some Short-term Entry Permits

Analysis

Holders of a sponsored visit visa, tourist visa, or entry service visa are no longer subject to the cooling-off period under which they were previously required to stay outside of the UAE for 30 days before being able to re-apply for another short-term visa/permit. Though Immigration has not explicitly announced this change, in practice, applications can now be prepared (and submitted) before the completion of the cooling-off period.

The cooling-off period for select short-term visas/permits, which previously required applicants to stay outside of the UAE for 30 calendar days before they could reapply for another short-term entry visa/permit, has seemingly been removed.

Holders of the following visas/permits can re-apply for another short-term entry permit as soon as they exit the country:

• Sponsored visit visa (short-term);

• Sponsored visit visa (long-term);

• Entry Service Visa;

• Tourist visa (short-term); and

• Tourist visa (long-term).

Individuals eligible for a visit visa-on-arrival have historically never been subject to the same cooling-off period as sponsored short-term entry permits for visit and can still re-enter the country immediately after exiting.
