The Chairman of Jordan's Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Wealth Commission, Jamal Qamouah has said the Commission has issued a recommendation to increase the taxes imposed on oil derivative sales from 6 to 8% to generate more revenue for the municipalities.
However, the Deputy Chairman of the Association of Petrol Station Owners, Mr Ibrahim Abu Nahla said if the Government approves the recommendation, citizens will be directly affected.
Husam Alaish, a Jordanian economist, said the government is imposing these taxes to recover revenue lost from falling oil prices.
