Qatar: New Medical Centre for In-Country Medical Examinations to Open in November 2014
Analysis
The centre will contain a Medical Commission Unit catering to in-country medical examinations for work authorisation purposes and is expected to significantly increase the country's medical facility capacity.
Reports also suggest all foreign national employees intending to obtain work authorisation in Qatar may soon be required to undergo home-country testing for Hepatitis B and C. Currently, only some foreign nationals (those intending to work in health care, food handling, athletics etc) are screened for Hepatitis B and C during the in-country medical examination.
What This Means for Employers and Foreign Nationals
The Mesaimeer medical facility will serve as an additional centre for medical examination services to foreign nationals intending to obtain work authorisation. Due to the increase in medical facility capacity, this may also result in quicker processing times for obtaining medical clearance reports.
