The UN Security Council has by unanimous vote decided to take action against those who are prolonging instability in Libya by calling on parties to agree a ceasefire and condemning the use of violence. It has drawn attention to the fact that travel bans and asset freezes are still in place against a list of designated Libyan citizens. People who are involved in conspiring to encourage the fighting in Libya are warned that they may be added to this list. The sanctions are aimed at ‘individuals and entities determined by the Committee to be engaging in or providing support for other acts that threaten the peace, stability or security of Libya, or obstruct or undermine the successful completion of its political transition.' Such acts include attacks by air, land or sea as well as providing support for groups looking to exploit natural resources in Libya.
