Analysis
Dubai International Airport is now fully operational after being partially closed due to upgrades to increase its capacity and improve efficiency. Parties should contact their airline to confirm terminal details so that Employment Entry Permits are deposited at the correct location.
As a result of the partial closure, many airlines had to divert flights, and in some cases temporarily shift operations, to Al Maktoum International Airport or to the neighbouring Emirate of Sharjah.
What This Means for Employers and Individuals
The UAE work authorisation process requires foreign nationals to enter the UAE on the basis of an Employment Entry Permit (EEP) which is placed at the airport of entry. As such, employers and foreign national employees are advised to confirm their airport of entry and ensure that the EEP is deposited at the correct terminal. Individuals intending to enter the UAE for work authorisation purposes will not be allowed to enter the country unless a valid EEP is presented.
