Egypt Ministerial Decision No. 419/2014
Analysis
Following a Decision from Egypt's Civil Aviation Minister, Hussam Kamal, a USD $25 airport departure tax has been implemented and imposed on international flights leaving Cairo International Airport. It is expected to come into effect sometime this month.
The measure is aimed at diversifying tax revenue sources and covering the expenses of services provided to travellers at the airport.
The new tax is to be collected via airline ticket costs and tourists using domestic flights will pay a reduced rate of USD $4.
