Analysis
Catherine Beckett of Dentons examines the key provisions of the covered warrants regulation and its impact.
What's happening?
“The UAE's Securities and Commodities Authority has recently published Securities and Commodities Decision No. 2/2014 on covered warrants in the country. The regulations enable licensed issuers to issue and trade covered warrants on exchanges outside of the free zones in the UAE. They demonstrate an increasing commitment to develop the UAE onshore capital markets, with some speculating this is a precursor to the introduction of regulations for other more complicated instruments like options and futures,” Catherine Beckett explains.
