The latest initiative, a collaboration between DTCM and Dubai Municipality, proposes a waiver of the 10% Municipality Fee for new 3 and 4 star hotels for an initial period of 4 years from the date of the construction permit. DTCM has informed us that the waiver is to apply to 3 and 4 star properties which obtain the permit to construct between 1 October 2013 and 31 December 2017.

The initiative is part of an overall strategy to achieve Dubai's aim of attracting 20 million visitors by 2020. DTCM officials have indicated that a circular setting out the details of implementation and execution of the initiative is to be expected in the next month.
