Bahrain: Work Permit Rules Relaxed, LNB News 07/10/2013 16
Analysis
Bahrain's Labour Market Regulatory Authority has issued an edict requiring all employers in the Kingdom retain and maintain a data file on all of their foreign workers.
The compliance reports must be available to Authority inspectors to ensure transparency and compliance with the Kingdom's immigration and labour rules.
Employers must store and organise the data in an easily accessible way should Authority inspections take place and to ensure continuous immigration compliance.
Employers who recruit foreign workers must have a record which at least includes:
• the foreign worker's name and address;
• their nationality,
• their date of birth,
• their qualifications,
• their job title;
• the nature and type of work being performed;
• their arrival date;
• the employment start date;
• the work permit's validity;
• the labour contract period; and
• the worker's agreed salary, including mode and dates of payment.
