Analysis
To date, the Middle East has not traditionally been seen as a big market for directors' and officers' (D&O) liability products, particularly commercial D&O. That is something we expect to change, particularly as regulators focus on increased enforcement action around the region as the dust continues to settle in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Indeed, the financial crisis has already spawned several high-profile D&O claims in the region, though not on the scale seen in jurisdictions such as the US and England. In this article we look at some of the key developments in this area and the emerging trends for D&O in the region.
