The Development of Dubai as an Arbitration Centre

Analysis

Dubai has a “can do” approach to doing business. More than thirty years ago it had the foresight to build the largest man made port ever and surround it with an industrial free zone, which has helped it become one of the largest entrepot's in the world. It also built the biggest graving dock in the world (Dubai Drydocks now part of Drydocks World), a mega aluminium smelter (Dubal) and a large convention centre (Dubai World Trade Centre) demonstrating its ambitions as a MICE destination all those years ago. Since then it has developed its airport to become one of the world's major aviation hubs, the home of Emirates Airlines, a worldwide household name.
