Egypt's Finance Ministry is currently investigating EgyptAir allegations regarding tax evasion by some foreign airlines operating in Egypt. EgyptAir complained after concerns fair sectorial competition and its commercial interests were being affected.
Following the revolution, the Finance Ministry suspended tax lawsuits against airlines and tourism companies to encourage tourism and provide financial assistance to the sector.
They are now reconsidering the applicable tax rates and are seeking to settle outstanding tax issues with some companies.
