The executive office director of the GCC Health Ministers Council, Dr Tawfik Bin Ahmad Khuja, has announced a GCC-wide tobacco tax is on the way. The new tax, once approved, will be between 15% and 100%.
The new tax will include incorporate selling, environmental and municipal elements.
The aim is to reduce tobacco consumption across the region in cooperation with relevant bodies.
