A recommendation from Jordan's Ministry of Finance to exempt smart phones from customs and sales taxes has been published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette
Mobile phones have been exempt from sales taxes in Jordan since 2003, but it is only now that the exemptions are being applied.
Since smart phones make up 41.6% of Jordan's mobile phone market, the government has decided to apply the same tax laws to all mobile phones.
