Background
An employee filed a case against a company before First Initial Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes (FIASLD) requesting the company reinstate him and pay his dues. The FIASLD ruled that the employee should be reinstated and that the company should pay him his salary for the dismissal period.
The company appealed the ruling before the SLHASLD and said in its grounds of appeal that the employee was dismissed due to negligence and absence.
Decision
The SLHASLD said that the case file revealed that the penalty issued against the employee was not compatible with the violation he had made. The SLHASLD said that the employee had admitted that he was absent for only three days.
The SLHASLD amended the appealed ruling and ruled that the company should pay the employee 25000 Riyals for compensation in addition to other dues.
