Calculation – Holiday Pay – Employee’s Rights – Termination of Employment
This case involved the method of calculating holiday pay on termination of employment.
Background
An employee filed a case against a company before First Instance Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes (FIASLD) requesting the company to pay his due entitlements.
The FIASLD ruled that the company should pay the employee 41625 Riyals for his remaining salary and annual leaves. The FIASLD rejected the other requests.
The employee and the company appealed the ruling before the SLHASLD.
The SLHASLD said that the case file revealed that the FIASLD had made a mistake in the calculation of the value of annual leave.
The SLHASLD amended the appealed ruling and ruled that the company should pay the employee 42500 Riyals.
