SCSLD 432/2/332/2010
Background
An employee filed a case against a company before First Instance Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes (FIASLD) requesting the company pay back deductions from her salary and cancel warnings it had issued.
The FIASLD ruled that the company should pay the employee the deducted amount for two days and dismissed the other requests.
The employee appealed the ruling before the SLHASLD.
Decision
The SLHASLD stated the penalties issued against the employee complied with the company's statute. The SLHASLD stated the employee was absent for five days and so the company deducted wages for five days. The SLHASLD said that the employee was late in delivering her work and the company deducted 50% of the wage in accordance with the company's statue.
The SLHASLD upheld the appealed ruling.
