Employer’s Rights and Duties – Employee’s Rights and Duties – Compensation
This case involved a claim by an employee for payment of their dues. A key factor in determining compensation was that both employers and employees were expected to know the rules in the Labour Law.
Background
An employee filed a case against a company before First Instance Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes (FIASLD) requesting the company to pay his dues.
The FIASLD ruled that the company should pay the employee 186393.33 Riyals.
The employee and the company appealed the ruling before the SLHASLD.
Decision
The SLHASLD stated Article 12 of the Labour Law stipulated that an employee and the employers have to know the rules of the Labour Law. The SLHASLD considered the value of the compensation reasonable.
The SLHASLD upheld the appealed ruling.
