Unfair Dismissal – Employee’s Rights – Travel Costs – Termination of Employment – Absence
This case involved a request for compensation, travel costs and dues by an employee who had been dismissed. The travel costs were due to the employee under the regulatory charter but the dismissal had been justified as the employee was absent from work.
Background
An employee filed case before the First Instance Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes in Dammam against a company requesting they pay him his wages starting from the date on which he was dismissed and compensate him for transport costs, an end of service gratuity, and compensation for damages.
The First Instance Authority issued a ruling requesting the company to pay the employee a total of 16450 Riyals.
The employee and the employer appealed the ruling before the High Authority for Settlement of Labour Disputes (SLHASLD).
