Background
The general attorney filed a case at Bariq General Court against a defendant claiming he had been arrested by the anti-drug unit for holding a half of a banned substance.
The defendant admitted that he had the half of the substance and had used the other half after buying it from an unknown person. The defendant stated this was the first time he had done this.
Decision
The judge decided the defendant should be imprisoned for one month. He should receive 15 lashes and should be prevented from travelling abroad for two years.
The court of cassation upheld the ruling.
