Background
The general attorney filed a case in Riyadh General Court against a defendant claiming they had been arrested after selling 15 banned pills to anti-drug police officers. The general attorney stated the defendant had 13 previous criminal convictions.
The defendant admitted he had 13 previous criminal convictions and he had been punished for them all but he denied the accusation.
The general attorney brought two witnesses from the patrol that had arrested the defendant. The witnesses stated they had seen the defendant selling the banned pills to one of the officers and he had received money for the pills before being arrested.
Decision
The court ruled the defendant should be imprisoned for 15 years and should receive 1500 lashes (51 lashes per week).
The court of cassation upheld the ruling.
