SCA 1457/2019

This case involved a failure to pay a contractor for work done. The contractor had provided evidence including the contract but the defendant had failed to attend the hearing.

Background

A contractor filed a case against a company before the court. He requested the court to order the company to pay 600000 Riyals. He said that the company had assigned him contracting work and he finished the work but they had failed to commit to their obligations.

Decision

The court said that the case documents revealed that the contractor had provided the court with the documents that proved his claims including the contract signed between the two parties. The court said that the case documents also revealed that the company had failed to attend the court hearings though they were informed of the case.

The court ruled that the company should pay the contractor 600000 Riyals.

The Court of Appeal – Jeddah upheld the ruling based on same grounds.
